So it's finished ( probably ) ...the photo I've taken of it isn't the best, but the light isn't so good now so I'll have to try taking another some other time.

This is the scene from the 1940's film Brief Encounter where the two main characters, Laura Jesson and Dr Alec Harvey played by Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard, first meet and he removes a piece of grit from her eye

1st WIP [link]
2nd WIP [link]
3rd WIP [link]
4th WIP [link]

Stats:

A3 Bristol Board (so a bit smaller than my usual size)
4H, H, HB, B, 5B & 8B wooded pencils
HB, B, 2B, 3B & 4B 0.5 mechanical pencils
cotton buds
Kneadable eraser

I think it took me between 50 & 60 hours, but I'm not so sure because I put it aside for 9 months. :)

EDIT : I've updated the image for a scanned one, it's a bit brighter and I think more in focus too.
Also I've added a couple of close-ups in my scraps [link] and [link]

Daily DeviationA Brief Encounter by *RTyson shows how an artist's ability is able to capture a moment in time. This delightful pencil piece really does show the hours and hours of love and work that went into creating it, and I can only imagine the artist's face when the piece was finally finished. Beautiful work! (Featured by ^ArtisticAunJuli)

Brilliant-- the sense of dimension, the textures and tones, the figures' relationship to each other-- also manages to capture the peculiarly magical iconic quality that some old black and white movies carry with them... Powerful and astonishing.

It looks incredible, Ruth. The long hours spent really paid off. :wow: It feels like you're watching the a part of the film just by looking at it.
