A new life is greatly cherished but as we grow we sometimes forget that all life should be cherished.
This was my entry for the Talent Club's 'Life' contest in September. It was voted in 1st place by the other club members, Yippee!
Drawn on A2 Bristol Board using 2H & 7B wooded and HB, B & 2B 0.5 mechanical pencils. I also used cotton buds and a colour-shaper for blending and a kneadable eraser for adding highlights.
Time taken 35.5 hours.
Thanks to for permission to use the photo from her gallery as my reference, [link]
When I first saw the photo, a couple of months ago, I thought it would be a wonderful picture to draw and then when the Talent Club's contest this month was chosen to be 'Life' I thought it would be the perfect time to draw it. I only started it 6 days ago and due to the size I decided to go for (59.5cm x 42cm / 23.5" x 16.5") it has taken some work so I've been spending about 6 hours a day frantically drawing to get it finished in time for the contest deadline.
If you'd like to see my progress I have a series of WIP (work in progress) deviations in my gallery.
yeah, and if I had drawn the whole baby, it would probably have taken me that long too!

Bird Flu could be quickly and easily eradicated by adding a few drops of Lem-sip or Day-Nurse to birdbaths, obviously you would have to put Night-Nurse in the bird baths for owls.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
