Well here he is, after about 70 hours of pencil on paper.
Tommy is a friend of my husband and as he has such an interesting face I wanted to draw him. My hubby took a photo of him sitting in our car during a break from choosing slate for a house they were working on at a quarry.
Stats:
A2 Bristol Board
H wooded + HB, B & 2B 0.5 mechanical pencils.
Kneadable eraser for highlights
and cotton buds for blending areas.
That's it then! Thanks for the great words of encouragement from my friends! I'll be putting the WIPs into my scraps, so they can be viewed there if anyone's interested.
That is an excellent piece of work. Really nice DOF for the background. The details in the sweater are simply amazing. This individual does have an interesting face that seems to be full of experiences and interesting stories. The expression is very lifelike. You have captured a moment in time with a beautiful lifelike rendering.
This is absolutely going to blow his mind when he sees it. I can't believe your attention to detail, and how you had the patience for the sweater is beyond me. And the beard? Amazing. Keep up the wonderful work, I can't wait to see more.

Oh my God!
Hey dear!!! It's superb!!! what can I say that I haven't said before? mmmm, this piece just shows how talented you are...there is no texture that you can't draw, here you've achieved perfection in all of them: skin, hair, knitting, sheep, everything!!!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example.
