new commission WIP

quite challenging this one. The scanned ref photo is even smaller than the one I printed out here, but I managed to enlarge it without distorting it too much....saying that though when I've drawn it on A4 I somehow seem to have altered the proportions of his nose, so I'll have to rectify that before I finish it.

Does anyone know anything about military uniforms? I've managed to identify the lapel pins so I'll be able to draw them in detail, but I was wondering about the epaulet buttons and stars, are they a bog standard design or specific to the regiment?
